The warmer season is upon us and there’s no better time to enjoy the outdoors before the harsh April heat takes over. We’ve grown quite accustomed to the lockdown lifestyle yet staying constantly indoors has its limits, both physically and emotionally. Recently, with Covid-19 precautions in mind, I decided to venture beyond and joined my 3-year-old son, his friends and nannies on a playdate at Siri Sports Complex. Located close to Hauz Khas Village, next to the Siri Auditorium, it offers a variety of sport facilities ranging from Tennis, Golf, Badminton, Cricket and more.
One can become a full member, a temporary member or take on a subscription and there is an option to pay an entrance fee to use some of the facilities. Booking specific times, courts and coaching is available but as all things can get complicated in Delhi, I would recommend contacting the complex directly, preferably with someone who speaks Hindi to get a clear understanding of the fees.
Our little outing consisted of using the Children’s Park, which is open for everyone at a reasonable fee. But keep in mind, the ticket booth is about 100 meters from the entrance of the Children’s park and Indian nationals, children under 5 years old, Foreign nationals and nannies all have a different ticket price. I do not speak Hindi therefore had a bit of difficulty trying to calculate and understand the overall fee (still not convinced I was ticketed properly) so I will refrain from noting the correct price. However, I will say it’s best to have a Hindi speaker guide you the first time to understand the ticketing system.
On way to the Children’s Park, there is a skating park open for children with a smooth rink and safety bars. There is a variety of slides (big and small) swings and climbing facilities within the Children’s park with ample grass space for children to run and play. The play areas are kept fairly clean, and the equipment kept in good condition.
Overall a fun afternoon spent with good company at Siri Fort Complex with a thumbs up from all the kids.. what more can a parent ask for.
